The older I get the more the old sayings make sense. “a penny saved is a penny earned”……”if you have your health you have everything”……I could go on and on but you “get the picture.”

why would you feel the need to get a text or send a message throughout the day. That would be annoying to me. It is your generation I guess. My daughter does the same thing. I don’t have the need to speak to someone unless I have a serious question to ask. If it’s not important, than I’d rather speak to them face to face. And the quote “no news is good news” is not being used correctly. That was meant for people who are expecting some sort of decision, usually financial or employment decisions. If no news was heard that means you still had a chance. It is still being determined. If you heard from them right away it meant just that, you didnt get any good news.

No news is great news. Sometimes I turn off my phone for days just so I can pretend that no one is calling me, this labor day weekend was one of those times. I spent the entire weekend venturing no further than my bathroom and kitchen.
If I receive more than four or five phone calls in the same day, I hit a saturation point and turn off my phone.
Friends and family used to get frantic at times, now they know to expect it.
I don’t do text messaging or instant messaging.

By the way - it was my ex girlfriend who turned me into a phonophobe. She would call about ten times per day, and every evening that I was away (we lived in different cities), she would call and talk at me for an hour, sometimes two. That’s why she is an ex.

every two hours is pretty often enough? are you saying anything really important? Is it just a contest to see who forgets to text first? Are you texting in front of people to show off that you have a relationship?

You’re going to get to a point that you have said everything… nothing is new… for some this spells the end of the relationship… for others… they learn to grasp the joy of silience…

with technology the way it is, “no news” usually means “withheld news.” the scariest days of war are the ones where the top story on the news is some celebrity’s drunken romp through malibu.

My daughter is married to a man in the Army, and they don’t always get to talk. They get to communicate through e-mail, and chat most days, but there are times when they don’t get to talk at all because of communication problems, weather, he’s off on maneuvers, etc. She has to keep a positive mind and think that “no news is good news”, because when you’re in the military anything can happen.
