In general, you might try cruising the news sources, such as the technology columns in the Boston Globe (Bray,=&s.author=Hiawatha+Bray&s.tab=globe&s.sortBy=-articleprintpublicationdate&s.si%28simplesearchinput%29.hitsPerPage=25) and NY Times (Pogue). Also, check out the most recent issues of Scientific American. Best of all, if you have a local newsstand (magazine rack at your local bookstore should do), flip through some of the high-tech magazines and see what they have to offer.
