Why the new IPOD Nano generation(widescreen) can’t be charged with past generation gadgets?

Past generation gadgets meaning Apple Hi-FI// Monster FM car transmissor// ipod Alarm-Radio system.
The usb charging cable from my nano 2nd generation and the new one seem to be the same except it doesnt charge the new one.

    What do you mean past generation gadgets?

    The charging cables and wall adapters should work fine, as well as Apple docks. However, the new iPods and iPhones power through a different part of the charging port. They use the Firewire connection instead of the USB 2.0. Why? I’ll let you gue$$ on that one.

    This affects third party speaker docks and car radio adaptors that were designed to charge using the USB connections. Remember, Apple doesn’t make all of that other stuff.
