To use the hands free device through the MB features on the 2000 E320 originally required an MB phone kit and MB handset to utilize the vehicle’s phone features. However, if you get a blue tooth compatible phone, you do not need to have an MB handset, instead, you will need the bluetooth adapter and phone kit installed. Unfortunately, this is a costly installation if the MB phone kit is not already installed.

A less expensive option is aftermarket equipment installed, but this will not work with your vehicle’s phone features.

    Good luck!

Does the vehicle have a Benz phone kit installed? I’m not referring to the “phone” button on the radio, that is standard on all 2000 models. The phone kit was a dealer installed option back in ‘00 and to update the kit to accept any Blutooth phone, a Blutooth puck has to be installed in place of the handset that came with the phone kit. It also matter which phone kit was used. Back in 2000, it could have been a Motorola StarTAC. This is not a Blutooth capable phone kit. If you had a later version phone kit retrofitted, you may be able to update it but it depends which kit was installed.

If you do not have this currently, this will have to be installed first. Keep in mind that it is expensive ( + $2K )
