Don’t do it! The led technology is still too new…Too expensive and not enough difference.

Better question: Is the difference between CRT television and LCD television worth the $150? (The answer to that one is also no.)

LED is a type of backlight for an HDTV. It exists for both LCD and DLP. So there’s not really a difference of LCD vs LED. Its CCFL vs LED.
Is LED LCD worth the extra expense? No. The reason being is that you can buy a plasma for the same price as that LED LCD and get even better image quality as a result (and for less). So spend less and get a better picture by just switching technologies.
But, if you MUST go LCD, then LED LCD is worth it for image quality in the sense that at least you get blacks and contrasts closer to plasma, a heck of a lot closer than CCFL. Its a steep price to pay though. If you’re a videophile though it is probably something you want.

Yes, it’s worth it.. .supposidly you save up to 40% more energy a year !

Personally I think it worth extra money for picture quality,LED providing blacker black tones.LED TVs reduced power consumption up to 40%.
