Torsten asked:

I don’t have a windows 7 disc, because my laptop came with Windows 7 on the hard drive.
What are my options, what items do I need to gather or buy, and what is the process?

Best way would probably be with some hard drive cloning software. Try Clonezilla, it’s free.

Alternatively, create recovery discs from your computer. There would be a way to create recovery discs, just check the documentation that came with your computer.

i think the only thing is to buy or obtain a windows 7 cd and install the os on the new hard drive.

Why would you want to move it to a SSD drive they are still amazingly expensive and in about 5 years they might be half the cost you paid for it. Just my opinion
